The Region

Sunny, warm Lovely Sud de France

Languedoc or now Occitanie, is one of the 13 regions of France.  This is the southernmost region of mainland France and is as close to skiing in Andorra as to tapas in Spain. The capital or préfecture is Toulouse, with our nearby city of Montpellier as  second and the fastest growing city in France. Languedoc also has their own old language, Occitan, the language of Yes, with roots as far back as the 8th century. During the latter part of the 20th century, the language diminished, but is now looking of attempts to be revived. L’occitan, es la lenga del miègjorn de la Franca, la lenga de l’Occitania. (Occitan is the language of the south of France, the language of Occitania).
